You can delete your account two ways.The fastest is inside the IMPACT app. If you can't access the app or no longer have it installed, email us using the form below and we will delete your account on your behalf. We honor every valid deletion request — you do not need to give a reason.
Option 1 — In the IMPACT app (fastest)
- Open the IMPACT app on your iPhone or Android device.
- Sign in to the account you want to delete (you can only delete an account you can sign in to).
- Tap Settings in the bottom navigation, then Account.
- Tap Delete accountand confirm. You'll be asked to confirm a second time to prevent accidental deletion.
- You'll receive a confirmation email when deletion is complete.
Option 2 — By email
If you no longer have the app or can't sign in, email privacy@joinimpact.app from the address associated with your account. Use the subject line Account Deletion Request and include:
- the email address tied to your IMPACT account;
- your full name as it appears on the account, if known;
- (optional) the school, house of worship, or organization associated with your account, if any.
We will verify the request and confirm by email before deleting. If we cannot verify ownership of the account, we will let you know and may ask for additional information.
What gets deleted
When your account is deleted, we permanently remove or anonymize:
- your profile (name, email, photo, bio, affiliations);
- your private content (saved missions, drafts, in-app messages you sent and received);
- your account activity history (mission completions, points, streaks, badges) from your personal profile;
- questions you submitted to AskIMPACT that are tied to your account;
- device tokens and notification preferences;
- any other personal information described in our Privacy Policy that is tied to your account.
What may be retained, and why
A small set of records may be retained after deletion where we have a legal, security, or safety reason to keep them:
- Public posts and comments may remain visible in shared group threads but will be detached from your profile and anonymized. If you want a specific post removed, include the link in your email request and we will remove it where reasonable.
- Donation receipts and financial recordsrequired for tax, accounting, or anti-fraud purposes may be retained for the period required by applicable law.
- Records related to abuse reports, safety actions, or legal claims may be retained in anonymized form to protect the community and meet our legal obligations.
- Backups may continue to contain your data for a short period after deletion, until they are rotated out on our standard backup cycle.
Timeline
- In-app deletion: account is disabled immediately. Personal data is removed within 30 days.
- Email request: we respond to confirm the request within two business days. Once verified, personal data is removed within 30 days.
- Backups: residual copies in encrypted backups are purged within 90 days.
What to do before deleting
- If you donated through IMPACT and want a copy of any receipts, download or save them first — we may not be able to re-issue them after deletion.
- If you administer a school, house of worship, or organization on IMPACT, contact support@joinimpact.app first so we can transfer admin duties to another member and avoid disrupting your community.
- Deletion is permanent. Once deleted, your account, points, streaks, and personal mission history cannot be restored.
